As we celebrated this year’s World Environment Day on June 5th, it is a important moment for us to reflect on the intersection of leadership, sustainability, and the role of executive education in fostering & integrating an environmentally conscious business mindset in today’s and out future leadership.

The theme for this year’s World Environment Day, focused on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience under the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.” From the perspective of Business and Administrative Leadership, Executive Education can have an acute impact on the proving the global commitment to Sustainability, via businesses investing in #ESG and proactive activities to combat Climate Change.

On 5th of June 2024, the director of IIMB, Prof. Rishikesha Krishnan, and the Chairperson of Sustainability Taskforce of IIMB, Prof. Haritha Saranga, along with distinguished IIMB faculty – Prof. Rajendra Bandi, Prof. M. Several new activities are also lined up for the next few months such as a Book Re-use program, and Cloth Collection and Recycling drive.

As we are almost facing a climate crisis due to erratic weather patterns and natural resource depletion, it is imperative for executive leaders to embrace sustainability not just as a regulatory requirement but as a core component of their strategic vision. This requires a proactive approach, where sustainability is embedded into the organizational DNA and championed at the highest levels of leadership.
