Programme Objective

To equip participants with the finance acumen required to make informed, strategic decisions across critical business scenarios—ranging from capital raising and corporate value creation to effective capital allocation and investment for sustainable growth. The programme further aims to strengthen governance capabilities and enable the development of financially resilient organisations including those that are family managed.

Programme Overview

This is a capstone programme designed to deliver critical insights on strategic finance aimed at shaping the thought process of entrepreneurs, business leaders and strategic decision-makers in business. It enables understanding and inter-connecting the key variables that shape financial risk-taking and decision-making in strategic business decisions, such as corporate structure, value creation, ownership and control, business financing and fund raising and prudent financial practices.

In an era of increasing entrepreneurism and business risk-taking, it is imperative for entrepreneurs and business leaders to understand finance as a strategic function in business, comprehend the strategic interpretation of financial statements and analysis, understand the pros and cons of using leverage for growth and the financial implications of value creation and its measurement. At the same time, effective business leaders should engage well with financial stakeholders and markets, provide effective board-level oversight and be able to connect the external financial environment to their own business. This master class intends to provide a definitive approach to all the aforesaid aspects of strategic finance.

Programme Directors

Prof. AshokProf. Ashok Thampy is a Florintree Professor in Finance at IIMB.  His areas of interest are Corporate Finance, Financial Risk Management, Industrial Economics, Banking, and Regulation. He teaches corporate finance and banking in the MBA and executive education programmes at IIMB. Prior to joining IIMB, he was at the Department of Finance, Bilkent University, Turkey. He has also held visiting positions at the Department of Economics at Santa Clara University, USA, and the School of Business, Economics and Law, at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Dr. Pratap Giri S, B.Com, FCA, FCS, MIOD is an independent corporate advisor and Adjunct Faculty at IIM Bangalore and other IIM campuses. He is also presently associated with ICAI, National Institute of Securities Markets, SPJIMR and Great Lakes Institute of Management. He has had extensive hands-on experience in Project and Infrastructure Finance, Private Equity, Capital Markets Financing, Restructuring, M&A, Strategic Finance and mentoring Family Managed Businesses. He has also been a corporate trainer for several leading banks and financial institutions such as BOI, UBI, PNB, Canara Bank, IL&FS, NABARD, LIC and GIC. He has written three books in the corporate finance area. He is also a speaker at various seminars and training programmes and is on the expert panel of ICAI and others.

INR 1,22,000/- Residential and INR 1,00,000/- Non -Residential (+ Applicable GST) per person for participants from India and its equivalent in US Dollars for participants from other countries.

Nominations received with payments on or before 13-Apr- 26 will be entitled to an early bird Discount of 10%.

Group Discount
Group Discount of 5% percentage can be availed for a group of 3 or more participants when nominations received from the same organization.

  • The programme fee should be received by the Executive Education Office before the programme commencement date. In case of cancellations, the fee will be refunded only if a request is received at least 15 days prior to the start of the programme. If a nomination is not accepted, the fee will be refunded to the person/ organisation concerned.
