Alternatives’ AUM is expected to grow globally from $16 TN in 2023 to $25 TN by 2028. In India, over $400 BN has been invested by PE/VC funds since 2013; over $60 BN has been invested by Real Estate funds during this timeframe.
Over 1300 Indian Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) are now registered with SEBI with an investment commitment of nearly INR 8 lakh crores. V Ravi Anshuman, Ph. D. in Finance, University of Utah; B. Tech, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He is a Professor of Finance in the Finance & Accounting area of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. Prof. Anshuman’s research interests cover the areas of market microstructure, capital markets, and corporate financial management issues in emerging markets. His publications have appeared in the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial Markets, Journal of Applied Corporate Finance, etc. He has co-authored the international edition of the book titled Valuation with Sheridan Titman and John Martin. He has held a tenure-track academic position at Boston College and visiting academic positions at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Indian School of Business and The University of Texas at Austin. He has served on several committees at the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and the Ministry of Finance (India).
From 2019 to 2024, Prof. Anshuman served as a Member of the Board of Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
Ritesh Vohra is a seasoned professional with over 27 years of experience as a financier, advisor, and entrepreneur, having managed several international and Indian investment funds. He is currently Managing Partner at Stoicap Ventures, an independent fund management business. Prior to this, Ritesh was part of Investcorp, a global asset manager with approximately $50 billion in AUM, and headed Investcorp India’s real estate funds management business. Before that, he was a Partner with IDFC alternatives (AUM ~$3.5 BN). He has also held a Managing Director position at Saffron Advisors and worked with advisory firms like Jones Lang LaSalle. During his career, he has had the opportunity to work with a global Alternatives manager, an Indian institutional manager, and a startup manager. Ritesh has been instrumental in multiple fund-raises from blue-chip global institutions, family offices, and HNIs, and possesses extensive experience working in a fiduciary capacity for investors. He completed his postgraduate program in management from the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.
