Programme Overview

Organizational Excellence refers to the entire range of corporate management initiatives and approaches through which organizations can be run successfully. The programme aims to provide insights into the multiple routes, paths, and drivers that world-class organizations have used to achieve excellence. It also offers an analysis of leadership, presenting a simple and practical conceptual model of leadership along with actionable guidance to:

  • Develop a competitive spirit
  • Achieve sustained performance
  • Attain durable influencing capability
  • Enable others to bring about change
  • Assist in the realization of human potential across all roles and levels

The programme brings together ideas, opinions, experiences, beliefs, perspectives, and futuristics thoughts from some of the finest management and business minds. These insights are valuable for leaders striving to succeed in today’s complex business environment. While the programme largely draws on global knowledge, it also incorporates indigenous Indian wisdom developed over thousands of years. Governance insights from Chanakya’s Arthashastra, leadership lessons from the life of Ashoka, and Mahatma Gandhi’s views on capitalism are used to illustrate concepts of organizational excellence. The programme also familiarizes participants with tools, techniques, and strategies to enhance creativity at both individual and organizational levels, while providing frameworks for institutionalizing innovation.

Programme Directors

 

Professor Abhoy K Ojha retired as Professor from the Indian Institute of Management. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from University of Alberta, Canada. His other educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and a Post Graduate Diploma in Administrative Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (Bombay University), Mumbai. He taught courses called “Designing Organizations” and “Enlightened Leadership for Responsible Business” in the master’s level, and “Organization Theory” and “Philosophy of Social Sciences” at the doctoral level. He draws on this background in the executive education programs with which he is involved.

 

SushantaProfessor Sushanta K Mishra is Professor of Organizational Behavior and Chairperson of the Executive Education Program at the IIM Bangalore. His work focuses on understanding individual behavior in organizations, with particular emphasis on leadership. His research has been published in leading international journals. Professor Mishra has made significant contributions to both academia and practice through his teaching, research, consulting, and leadership roles. He has served as President of the Indian Academy of Management and has held key academic leadership positions, including Dean (Programs), Dean (Research), and Member of the Board of Governors at IIM Indore. He has been recognized with the Best Teacher Award at IIM Indore and Excellence in Teaching at IIM Bangalore. In recognition of his distinguished contributions to management scholarship and education, he was inducted as a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Management.

 

Professor C. Panduranga Bhatta who superannuated from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, in December 2017 has over four decades of teaching and research experience at postgraduate and doctoral levels besides being a leading consultant and contributor to several research projects undertaken by prestigious institutions in India and abroad. At the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta he was the founder coordinator of the Business Ethics and Communications Group, Coordinator of Management Centre for Human Values, Editor of the Journal of Human Values published by SAGE Publications, Chairperson, Post-Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPEX), Convenor, Faculty Council, President, IIMC Welfare Association and Provost. He has published four books and numerous research papers, book chapters, case studies and articles in reputed national and international journals. He has conducted a number of Management Development Programmes on leadership, managerial excellence, organizational excellence through leadership, creative excellence in management, leadership excellence in school education in India, Dubai, Sharjah, Muscat, Singapore, etc. He has also conducted a large number of customized In-Company training programmes for public and private enterprises besides lecturing at various Management Institutes in India and abroad. Prof. Bhatta has been awarded the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Award twice, for the distinctions achieved in Academic field besides being honoured with a Gold medal by the Association of Indian Management Schools for securing the prestigious “AIMS-ICFAI Best Teacher Award-2011”. He has also been bestowed with Dewang Mehta Award for Best Teacher in Business Ethics and Communication in 2010. He was deputed to ICCR Chair Professor at Silpakorn University, Bangkok for two academic years by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government. of India in 2014-16. His recent publications include Introduction to Sanskrit Poetics, The Art of Leading in a Borderless World with Pragyan Rath and Dice Play and Chess in Sanskrit Literature.

Group Discount
Group Discount of 5% percentage can be availed for a group of 3 or more participants when nominations received from the same organization.

  • All enrolments are subject to review and approval by the programme director. Joining Instructions will be sent to the selected candidates 10 days prior the start of the programme.
  • The programme fee should be received by the Executive Education Office before the programme commencement date.
  • In case of cancellations, the fee will be refunded only if a request is received at least 15 days prior to the start of the programme.
  • If a nomination is not accepted,the fee will be refunded to the person/ organisation concerned.
  • A certificate of participation will be awarded to the participants by IIMB.
