Programme Overview

ESG has become integral to business success, influencing investment decisions, stakeholder relationships, and market competitiveness.

This intensive 3-day residential program is designed for forward-thinking executives, and decision-makers seeking to incorporate ESG considerations in their organizations through responsible business strategies.

Programme Director Prerna Wadikar will guide you through the ESG landscape including key concepts like ESG considerations in investments, ESG in value chains, DEI, Net Zero strategy framework, GHG accounting, ratings and assurance. You will also be introduced to regulations and reporting standards like IFRS and CSRD among others.

Programme Director Deepti Ganapathy will take you through the importance of climate communication, evolving global scholarship around green washing, green hushing and its impact on investor relations and reputation management. She will also discuss media framing of the issue and how organisational communication on social media channels affects communication flows.

This course goes beyond theoretical frameworks, providing practical insights into integrating ESG into corporate strategy and operations. Participants will gain a deep understanding of the business value of sustainable practices and how to navigate the evolving ESG regulations. Global best practices and books authored by the Programme Directors, which are bestsellers around the globe will be used as a pedagogical tool to facilitate learning.

Programme Directors

Prof. Deepti Ganapathy has 17 years of practitioner and academic experience with India’s leading media and education conglomerates- these include The Times Group, Deccan Herald, NDTV, IIM Indore and School of Business Management, NMIMS University. At IIM Bangalore, she teaches Communication courses for the MBA programme and offers several Executive Education courses. She has been Program Director for various custom and short-duration programmes.

Her Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Health Communication was launched during the pandemic for Healthcare professionals by IIM Bangalore’s Digital Initiative. She has been invited by WHO infodemic management in building curriculum for infodemic management in education programmes.

She is the author of the recently published book “Media and Climate Change: Making Sense of Press Narratives”, which explores the socioeconomic and cultural understanding of climate issues and the influence of environment communication via the news and the public response to it. Her book has been well received globally and she has been invited as a plenary speaker at prominent Climate Conferences and as a speaker to research centers in Universities in the US and EU doing work around the themes of Sustainability and Climate Change Communication. Her book was listed in the Honour Book list 2022 in the Business Category in the Green Literature Festival

An expert for NITI Aayog and State Institute for Transformation of Karnataka and the Centre for Environment Education, Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change, Government of India) and UNICEF, she also serves as an Empaneled member, National CSR Awards, Institute of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, her research focuses on exploring the phenomenon of greenwashing in corporate sustainability reporting to identify effective communication strategies to combat it.

An Affiliate Faculty at the Centre for Climate Change Communication, George Mason University, she is spearheading a project to assess reporting on climate change as a health issue by analysing a decade’s worth reporting on the health relevance of climate change, as reported in the world’s three largest economies: US, India, and China.

Prerna is a polymath with an impressive sustainability focused portfolio career of close to two decades in leadership roles in three continents and 25 states in India with some of the most influential global thought leaders at reputed multinationals, government and civil society organizations.

Prerna pioneered institutional ESG (Environmental Social & Governance) education in India and was recognised with the prestigious India UK Achievers Honours at the momentous occasion of the 75 years of India’s Independence for her sustainability focused interventions, an honour shared with luminaries such as the ex-Prime Minister of India. Prerna advises ESG leaders and multinationals across geographies on ESG strategy and execution. She is a board member at the Central British Fund for World Jewish Relief, operating in 23 countries on climate resilience and emergency response and Global Advisory Council Member of Tech India Advocates, a consortium of business leaders over 42 countries. She is also a keynote speaker and panellists in international ESG and sustainable finance conferences such as COP and contributes to pioneering research and thought leadership at global business school forums.

Prerna is a Weidenfeld, Oxford, Hoffmann, Lincoln, and Saïd scholar; a postgraduate in Public Policy from IIM Bangalore, MBA from Saïd Business School University of Oxford with specialization in Sustainable Finance from ESMT Berlin.

Besides being the first female MBA recipient of the Oxford Vice Chancellor’s Social Impact Award, Prerna is recognised as the Asia Pacific Leading Lights among 30 countries for her impactful contributions.

  • All enrolments are subject to review and approval by the programme director. Joining Instructions will be sent to the selected candidates 10 days prior the start of the programme.
  • The programme fee should be received by the Executive Education Office before the programme commencement date.
  • In case of cancellations, the fee will be refunded only if a request is received at least 15 days prior to the start of the programme.
  • If a nomination is not accepted,the fee will be refunded to the person/ organisation concerned.
