Programme Overview

Organizational excellence refers to the whole range of corporate management initiatives and ways in which organizations can be run to create successful organizations. The programme aims at providing insights into the multiple routes, paths and drives which have been created by world-class organizations in successfully reaching the peaks of excellence. It also provides an empirical analysis of leadership, a simple and practical conceptual model of what leadership is, and an actionable guide to develop competitive spirit, achieve sustained performance, attain durable influencing capacity, enable others in bringing change, assist in actualization of human potential in all roles and at all levels. It provides ideas, opinions, experiences, beliefs, perspectives and futuristic thoughts of some of the finest management and business brains which are of immense value to any leader striving to succeed in today’s complex business environment. This programme also familiarises participants with tools, techniques and strategies to increase creative ability of individuals and organizations besides providing strategies for developing a broad framework of enabling factors, at the individual and organizational levels for institutionalizing innovation.

While the program largely draws on global knowledge, inputs are also based on knowledge emerging from the Indian Ethos, a term used to represent the synergetic representation of the indigenous genius that has culminated in a corpus of profound knowledge over a period of several thousand years in India that are highly beneficial in developing Enlightened Leadership. For example, governance insights from Chanakya’s Arthashastra, leadership insights from the life of Ashoka, and Mahatma Gandhi’s views on management as ‘trusteeship’, and more will be invoked to illustrate the concepts of organizational excellence.

This programme focusses on the role of organizations, including means and methods to create value for society, while also creating happiness in the employees through acceptance, tolerance and positive thinking. This certainly improves their performance and provides energy for work, activity, self-confidence, and enthusiasm. In a multi-cultural workplace, acceptance and tolerance are key drivers of productivity, which eventually affects the bottom line.

Programme Directors

Professor Abhoy K. Ojha obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Organizational Analysis from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. His other educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and a Post Graduate Diploma in Administrative Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (Bombay University), Mumbai. He currently teaches courses called “Managing Organizations” and “Creating High Performance Organizations” in the master level programs at IIMB. He teaches the “Advanced Organization Theory” and “Philosophy of Social Sciences” course at the doctoral level programs at IIMB. He draws on this background in the executive education programs with which he is involved. He has undertaken several consulting assignments in the private sector as well as government and public sector environment.

Professor C. Panduranga Bhatta who superannuated from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, in December 2017 has over four decades of teaching and research experience at postgraduate and doctoral levels besides being a leading consultant and contributor to several research projects undertaken by prestigious institutions in India and abroad. At the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta he was the founder coordinator of the Business Ethics and Communications Group, Coordinator of Management Centre for Human Values, Editor of the Journal of Human Values published by SAGE Publications, Chairperson, Post-Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPEX), Convenor, Faculty Council, President, IIMC Welfare Association and Provost.

He has published four books and numerous research papers, book chapters, case studies and articles in reputed national and international journals. He has conducted a number of Management Development Programmes on leadership, managerial excellence, organizational excellence through leadership, creative excellence in management, leadership excellence in school education in India, Dubai, Sharjah, Muscat, Singapore, etc.

He has also conducted a large number of customized In-Company training programmes for public and private enterprises besides lecturing at various Management Institutes in India and abroad.

Prof. Bhatta has been awarded the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Award twice, for the distinctions achieved in Academic field besides being honoured with a Gold medal by the Association of Indian Management Schools for securing the prestigious “AIMS-ICFAI Best Teacher Award-2011”. He has also been bestowed with Dewang Mehta Award for Best Teacher in Business Ethics and Communication in 2010. He was deputed to ICCR Chair Professor at Silpakorn University, Bangkok for two academic years by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government. of India in 2014-16.

His recent publications include Introduction to Sanskrit Poetics, The Art of Leading in a Borderless World with Pragyan Rath and Dice Play and Chess in Sanskrit Literature

Please Note

  • All enrolments are subject to review and approval by the programme director. Joining Instructions will be sent to the selected candidates 10 days prior the start of the programme.
  • The programme fee should be received by the Executive Education Office before the programme commencement date.
  • In case of cancellations, the fee will be refunded only if a request is received at least 15 days prior to the start of the programme.
  • If a nomination is not accepted,the fee will be refunded to the person/ organisation concerned.
  • A certificate of participation will be awarded to the participants by IIMB.
