Programme Overview
The Teaching Excellence for Academics in Management (TEAM) programme is designed for faculty working in management institutions, particularly those in the early stages of their career, on how to become excellent teachers in demanding classroom environments. While academics get trained to become high-quality researchers during their doctoral programme, there is still a dearth of comprehensive guidance on how to succeed as an effective and influential educator in various educational settings, such as a full-time MBA programme, part-time executive education programme for seasoned professionals, hybrid programmes (in person and online), or specialized programmes stemming from a particular domain. By unravelling the science and art of teaching, learning, and educating, the TEAM programme will launch young faculty on a trajectory of self-development, which in turn would enrich their career as academicians.

Programme Objective
The TEAM programme will familiarize the participants with various drivers of learning and will demonstrate how these drivers are applied using different pedagogical approaches, such as case methodology, simulations, or interactive lectures to achieve excellence in teaching.

Programme Benefits

  • This Teaching excellence programme will help management teachers hone/ sharpen their skills in teaching and related domains such as curriculum and assessment design.
  • Help teachers network with each other and share best-in-class practices and processes. Participants become part of a community of scholars who are inspired to attain excellence in management education.
  • The programme will not promote any particular pedagogical methodology as superior but, rather, will focus on explaining the suitability of a pedagogy within a particular learning environment. It will be run in a workshop mode, where participants will be asked to teach their peers in a teaching practicum. Experienced faculty members spanning different disciplines will provide them with feedback and insights on improving their teaching skills and classroom management techniques.

Programme Content

  • Drivers of Learning: Creating conditions for desirable levels of difficulty. Incorporating drivers of learning in different pedagogy.
  • Course design, aligning course content with the progress of the course and its degree of difficulty.
  • Effective evaluation: Evaluation of learning and evaluation for learning.
  • Class preparation and delivery: Content selection, pre-class preparation, classroom choreography, student engagement, managing blackboard plans; customizing teaching styles to different audiences; and creating your own teaching style.
  • Case writing: writing the case narrative; sourcing data for primary and secondary cases; the case writing project as a research programme; and writing effective teaching notes to evolve teaching excellence.

Pedagogy
The programme will be largely run in a workshop mode with hands-on sessions of teaching and writing, receiving feedback from experienced faculty, accompanied by sessions on experience sharing.

Target Audience
Faculty from reputed business schools with some teaching experience.

Admissions Criteria
Participants must be sponsored by the respective schools. Nominations not sponsored by schools will not be accepted.
