IIMB celebrated ,with immense joy, the Golden Jubilee Week from 26th to the 29th of October. The momentous occasion was inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu and Governer of Karnataka Thawar Chand Gehlot along with Director of IIMB Rishikesha T Krishnan and Chairperson Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty on Thursday (26th of October). The inauguration ceremony showcased the success and achievements of IIMB in the last 50 years which has been documented in the IIMB History Project through the film/documentary ‘IIMB: The Journey Toward Excellence’. Additionally, ‘The Making of a Campus: IIM Bangalore, authored by Kiran Keswani, will be exploring the intricacies of the architecture and planning at the crux of the making of the campus.

On Friday the 27th, IIMB hosted the Foundation Day Lunch for all the participants and their families which was followed by a range of various performances as part of the IIMB community cultural Programme at the auditorium ,packed with an enthusiastic audience, from the staff of IIMB who exhibited their talents through singing, dancing and performing skits.

On Saturday, IIMB held an Alumni Leadership Conclave along with a Presentation of Alumni Service Awards for all the outstanding achievements the alum have managed since their years at IIMB. Furthermore, the Director and Chairperson thanked and congratulated the alum and staff for all their contributions that has helped IIMB reach its current status as 48th in the QS World University rankings for top study destinations for aspiring business leaders.

Furthermore, a 50th Day Foundation Day Lecture was delivered by Professor Rebecca Henderson of John and Natty McArthur University Professor at Harvard University. She spoke of ‘Reimagining Capitalism in a World on Fire’, a lecture dedicated to understanding that a stable climate is the bedrock upon which communities, cultures, government, infrastructure, industry and finance are built upon. She explained how imperative it is to acknowledge and deal with the unprecedented rate of climate change along with envisioning a purpose simply beyond “profits” by creating a shared value, building cooperation, retiring finances and rebuilding the institutions of business in an attempt to re-design capitalism and the business world to accommodate for the wellbeing of people and the planet.

The Golden Jubilee Week marked its end on Sunday with a joyful celebratory event with the IIMB Alumni Community. It kicked off with laughter at the Alumni Life Fest Director’s Interactive Alumni Stand-up comedy, followed by the alums of the Executive Education Programmes who showed off vocal, dance and acting performances. Additionally, a soulful orchestra by 100 children from the “Each One Educate One’ Foundation and a Hindi play ‘Gagan Damama Bajyo’ saw to the farewell of our memorable Golden Jubilee Week.
