Genesis of the International Conference – FOAA

IIM Bangalore Executive Education in partnership with Toulouse Business School (TBS) has been offering an Executive Education Programme on ‘General Management Programme on Aviation & Aerospace Executives’ (GMAE) since 2015. As part of this collaboration, IIMB and TBS have been organising the International Conference on the Future of Aviation & Aerospace (FOAA) as an annual event since 2017, to bring together industry experts, researchers and scholars to deepen the understanding of the current state and future of the sector.

Highlights of FOAA 2024

The International Conference of the Future of Aviation and Aerospace 2024 featured several keynote speakers and panel discussions anchored by C-suite executives from Aviation & Aerospace companies and faculty from IIM Bangalore. Over 350 senior executives from the aerospace and aviation sector participated in this edition held at the impeccable congregation facility of Taj Bangalore.

The International Conference on Future of Aviation and Aerospace featured several industry stalwarts and esteemed speakers with insightful panel discussions

The International Conference was chaired by Prof. Shainesh and Prof. Raghunath, who gave the introductory addresses and set the context of the conference. Our esteemed chief guest, his excellency Consul General of France, Mr. Thierry Berthelot, remarked that “Aviation is a key element in the strategic partnership between India and France” during his opening address.

The conference had six central themes which has interesting panel discussions:

  • The Macroeconomic impact on the Aviation & Aerospace sectors – discussed by Prof. Chetan Subramanian (Professor in Economics, IIM Bangalore), Dr. Srinivasan Dwarkanath (Former CEO & MD, Airbus India) and Mr. Kallappa Pattada (ED, Boeing India Engineering)
  • Qualitative forecasting of the local and global aviation market – discussed by Dr. Srinivasan Dwarkanath and Mr. Sunil Bhaskaran (Director, Air India Aviation Academy)
  • Opportunities and challenges for the drone sector – discussed by Mr. Amber Dubey (Senior Advisor, McKinsey & Company) and Prof. Raghunath (Professor of Strategy, IIM Bangalore)
  • The Influence of Net-zero goals from the MRO angle (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) – discussed by Mr. C. S. Krishnaswamy (Systems Engg. Principal, Air Works), Mr. Sasikumar Muthusamy (Sr. Director, Collins Aerospace) and Mr. Uma Maheshwar (Chief Consulting Engineer, GE Aerospace)
  • Talent sustainability in the aviation industry – discussed by Prof. Christophe Benaroya (Head of Aerospace Programme, TBS), Mr. Suraj Chettri (VP-Head HR, Airbus) and Ms. Ruchi Dhawan Sharma (VP-Head HR, Indigo)
  • Scope of AI and cybersecurity in the Aerospace industry – discussed by Mr. Vishak Raman (VP Sales, Fortinet)

The programme concluded with an active networking event for all the speakers, delegates and the Alumni members of the IIM Executive Education programmes.
