IIM Bangalore Executive Education department is overjoyed to host the Executive-MBA participants of Gothenburg University, Sweden for their customized foreign immersion programme on ‘Doing Business in India’.

The programme was designed by the programme director Prof. Shainesh to provide a multi-layered immersive learning experience for the visiting Executive-MBA participants of Gothenburg University, so that they can clearly grasp the gist of doing business in India from an academic, business, and cultural level.

The programme commenced on 8th January 2024, with an inauguration function followed by foundational talks by the Prof. Shainesh to set the context of this programme. The core content of this customized course analysed the key concepts of:

  • The emerging market context of India and its implications for businesses
  • The nuances of Indian Legal System from the perspective of foreign businesses
  • The gestalt of Business, Governance and Society for deeper understanding of socio-cultural context of businesses in India
  • The economic business environment of India along with the prevalent trends of the market
  • Platform business models and Innovation management with in-depth case studies

The programme also consisted of field visits to NSRCEL, Buhler and Wipro, where the participants were exposed to industry environment, discussed with industry experts on crucial topics like business & delivery model of startup ventures, energy efficiency in industries, corporate social initiatives, innovation for local markets and personnel upskilling initiatives for corporates.

Apart from academic and business perspectives, the participants experienced the true cultural immersion offered as a part of the programme via early morning Yoga sessions, enthralling cultural music & dance events at the campus, interactive talks on Indian society & culture with a guided city tour arranged by Bangalore Walks and experienced a sumptuous dinner at Araku Café.

Thus, an enchanting week at IIM Bangalore helped the executives gain a holistic immersion experience into the business environment in India, covering the economy and society with a deeper understanding of selected issues related to innovation, new business models and sustainability.
