Women’s Day Celebrations at EEP aimed to enhance Diversity & Inclusion

With Women’s Day celebrations underway at the IIMB campus, we get reminded of a genuine need for deeper reflection of diversity & inclusion in our workplace. The celebrations intend to bring out the importance of acknowledging and valuing the contribution of women to be at par with men.

Even though we may have stellar ideals of a utopian society, it is our unconscious bias that pulls us back from achieving our dreams. Thus, it is necessary for us to put in more effort to make the celebrations of Women’s Day more fruitful by working on reducing our unconscious biases. We can use the ACCA (Awareness, Comprehension, Conviction, Action) approach to build and implement an equitable, diversified, and inclusive environment.

It is crucial to create awareness of the problem and allow ourselves to empathize & comprehend the issue precisely. While comprehending the issue, it is essential that we should have an open mind to reflect on our subconscious biases. Once we are aware and can comprehend the problem without the intervention of our biases, we need to build up our conviction. Finally, with the right conviction, we will be driven to achieve the goal and can build the right strategy to take focused action on the issue.

The concept of diversity and inclusion can provide a positive impact beyond the idea of gender. For example, IIMB supports multiple studies involving the design for financial inclusion and developing policies to improve the vibrancy of regional businesses for sustainable growth in the next decade. In one such seminar hosted by IIMB’s Centre for Public Policy (CPP), it was discussed that a strategic & granular discussion on the topic of ESG at board levels can kick start a profound impact to build leadership for equitable growth by catalysing the regional economy.

In line with those sentiments of developing diversity & inclusiveness beyond gender, financial status and technological expertise, the Executive Education Department of IIMB has offered many short duration programmes targeting such pressing issues like:

Apart from such short term programmes, IIMB’s EEP department also offers long duration programmes like ‘Tanmatra – Women in Leadership‘ which is a cross-industry leadership programme that leverages academic research and practitioner’s experience to advance women in the Indian business community. EEP also partners with NSRCEL (the start-up incubation centre of IIMB) and Goldman Sachs to offer programmes like GS10K Women – Finance for Growth, which focuses on providing intensive finance education, with tailored mentorship and extensive networking opportunities.

IIMB takes a proactive approach to identifying societal challenges and strategically design programs to address them. Through careful analysis, our professors and research associates identify issues that hinder progress and develop initiatives that offer strategic solutions. The impact of our EEP programs is evident in the transformation of participating working professionals, who not only gain a deeper understanding of critical issues but also acquire the necessary skills to effectively address them.

Our programs empower individuals with techniques to promote positive change, fostering a more empathetic and solution-oriented approach to societal challenges.
